Senior Pictures

Dani's mom took her to Austin a few weekends ago to get her senior pictures done. Late, I know. We've been trying since last fall but didn't work out.. anyway, I would have to say out of the 150+ pics, these are my favorites.

Jawbone UP Blue Vs Gray Challenge

Are you ready? I AM!

Starting on Sunday, May 19th, I'll be in a 7 day challenge for the most steps taken.. May the South (gray) overthrow the North (blue) once again and become Jawbone Champions of the US ;)

My goal for this challenge is to get at-least 15k steps a day. This is going to be tough since I work 8 hours a day but I have faith in myself that I can do this! I've recently started using Endomondo for my go to exercise buddy (other than the best friend) and that helps push me to go just a little further each time. So hopefully with the help of Britney and I walking 3x a week, and me walking on my own the other days of the week, I'll be able to have accumulated 105k steps by the end of the 7th day.

If you are a Jawbone Up person, check out the challenge! It should be tons of fun!

Mother's Day 2013

Happy Mother's Day to all the awesome mom's out there! Today, we were missing Dani because she is currently in Austin with her mom getting her senior pictures taken… We missed having her around but we were still able to have a good day :) We went to my mom's house and had a good filling of lobster and steak while the kiddos ran around outside terrorizing the dogs. I always love when we can get together like that. It usually is a very good day when we do.

I hope all the rest of the world's mothers out there had a wonderful, pampering day!

Why do I have to choose Facebook?

It infuriates me sometime that so many websites out there rely on Facebook so much.

I'm still not on Facebook, and I'm not missing it one bit. But when I want to change some setting on my Timehop Abe but can't because they don't offer any other way to login besides through your Facebook account. Or when I receive an email from Cafepress saying I can get 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas for only $38 when it's usually $124. But when I click the link, the only way to get said discount is to like them on Facebook. I hate it. Why must you make people be on Facebook just to use or buy your products? I know many people on and off the internet that have officially given up Facebook or have never been on at all. Why must people who choose not to be on Facebook get the raw end of the deal? Why can't you also have an option to sign in with Twitter, or here's an idea.. your email?? hmm.. never would have thought of that..

As most can tell, I'm not putting off all social media. I still think social media is wonderful, it is very useful and I'm glad we have it. I'm just opposed to Facebook right now. It's a blackhole, sucking us all in. Or maybe it was just sucking me in. I know, as a person, I have a very addictive personality. I latch onto something until it fully consumes me and then i have to back off a lot, or completely, just to be able to think straight. Facebook was my most recent. I was on it constantly. It was affecting me as a person, my family and even my job. Honestly I would have to say I'm a lot happier now that I'm not constantly checking my phone to see what so-in-so is doing, what picture they just posted or to see how my crops are doing on Farmville. I'm reading more, I'm paying attention to work more, I'm just… more.

I really don't know what the point of this post was about. Maybe just to get my irritation off my chest. I guess it's time I'll just have to accept the fact that I'm not entitled to certain services because I choose not to be on Facebook.

Funday 2013

Shaye
May 10, 2013
Today Shaye's school had their annual end of year Funday party.

I love the idea of a funday but a day like today was not a good day for eating and playing outside.. on any normal day food, jumpers and hyper kids would be hectic. Add in really cold wind gusts and talk of rain and that is a disaster... lol, not really, I'm just being sore from standing outside for and hour and a half.. The kids were having a blast though so I guess that's all that matters, right? If they were miserable, that would have been an incredibly different story.

Shaye's class wasn't in a 'standstill' type of mood so I wasn't really able to get all of them but here are a few I was able to get.

T-ball is officially over!

Hallelujah! I am tired of t-ball! lol!

We had our end of year tournament on Saturday and let me tell you, our team was not in the mood for games that day. To begin with, 4 of our players didn't show up so we only had 7 to play with. Though, the plus side of that was our games didn't last as long (yay!)

Gage woke up in the worst of moods and it stayed that way well into the afternoon.. It was too bright, he is too slow, he's hungry, he's thirsty and then he announced to the whole field that he had boogers that I had to go out and wipe for him. He was in most terms... a turd. Luckily though he wasn't the only one who was tired of t-ball so I had plenty of parents to commiserate with.

Thankfully they changed it up a bit this year and the tournament wasn't an all day thing. We had two games and we were done. Then awards, cookies & baskets from the coaches. I'm really glad we got this experience and he was allowed the extra year to play. He seemed to really enjoy it at first and I just know we will be doing it again next year as well.

he stole Daddy's shades because it was too bright

Update Spring 2013

Dani is officially a month from graduation. I still can't believe that our little firecracker is about to embark on her own journey we call life. She's currently looking for a job, counting down days until graduation and then getting ready to head to San Marcos, TX in September. *wipe tears* The little girl that I met so many years ago is no longer little. She's a beautiful young woman and I can't tell you how proud I am of her in everything she has done and the way she has come through her trials life has presented to her.. Anyway, enough of the sappy talk..

In March, we were able to go watch her perform at MA Dance Nationals in Fort Worth. They did a very awesome job but didn't come away with the awards they expected. I think they did great and they should be proud of themselves no matter what other people say.

Their Pom routine (I'm sorry for the screaming)
(btw.. Dani is the one at the very beginning who stays standing. I know some people like to know who they are looking for)

Last weekend was her Senior Prom and I think she looked gorgeous. Simply elegant.

Now, we just have to wait until June when she finally walks across that stage and becomes a Permian High Alumni. I'm starting to cry just thinking about it! lol..
